Stormont Vail Health’s Extra Life Champion

Extra Life is a program through the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that mobilizes passionate gamers to help treat sick and injured kids in their local communities. Through peer-to-peer fundraising, participants, called Extra Lifers, host personalized campaigns, many times through social media, garnering support from their friends, family and colleagues. Donations are raised for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, including Stormont Vail Health.

For Dustin Browning the time he spends gaming isn’t just play.  His involvement with Extra Life, is a way for him to help kids close to home in Northeast Kansas.

Dustin holds the distinction of being the top fundraiser for each of the past six years and the overall top Extra Life fundraiser for Stormont Vail Health, raising nearly $16,000 and counting. Each year he puts countless hours into Extra Life because it is something very important to him.  “For me, participating in Extra Life is a no-brainer,” Dustin said.  “It’s all about building a community around helping kids get well, and there’s nothing better than that.  There are so many ways you can get involved, whether it’s video, board, card or outdoor games. Plus, you can choose when and how often you play.  Once you get started, you realize how easy it is to fundraise, the new friends to be made and how wonderful it feels doing good for others.”
