A Day in the Life

Ever wondered what it’s really like to work at an exceptional hospital?

Twice a year Stormont Vail Health holds an event called “A Day in the Life”, where community leaders and partners are invited to step into Doctor’s scrubs and experience a full day of behind-the-scenes tours.

A wide range of information is presented to attendees by hospital administrators and healthcare professionals, in addition to getting special access to areas of the hospital such as the simulation lab, emergency department, helipad, neonatal intensive care unit, trauma bay, operating room and more.

Attendees gain a greater understanding of what goes into making Stormont Vail Health the state’s best hospital. The hospital is a Level II Trauma Center, verified by the American College of Surgeons. This designation means it can provide 24-hour immediate care for critically injured patients, including specialized surgeons and a comprehensive trauma care team. It is the only Level II trauma center in Topeka and serves the surrounding Northeast Kansas region, Stormont Vail is also the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the region. The NICU is equipped to provide the highest level of care for infants who need extra attention.

This immersive experience fosters a deeper appreciation for our caregivers and strengthens the bond between Stormont Vail and the community we serve.
