Kickoff Event Held for Walmart and Sam’s Club
This summer will bring a season of miracles to many children, as the annual Walmart Campaign for the Children’s Miracle Network is set to take place June 9th-July 6th. In preparation of the campaign, Stormont Vail Health hosted a kickoff celebration on May 16th at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library for the local Northeast Kansas area Walmart and Sam’s Club stores.
The traditional month’s long campaign began in 1987 and has continued to be successful in raising funds for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Locally in Northeast Kansas, the stores in Topeka, Manhattan, Junction City, Emporia, Holton, Hiawatha and Marysville were able to raise $152,859 in 2024, directly helping Stormont Vail Health’s children’s programs. And 100% of the funds were able to stay local to help kids in these communities as well benefitting programs like the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Child Life services, among others.

Max, who is Stormont Vail’s very own rock star miracle kiddo, did an exceptional job sharing his personal story. You can read about it here: Meet Miracle Kid Max! – Stormont Vail Foundation

Miracle kiddos and Stormont Vail Health NICU graduates, August and Vienna were in attendance as well. Read their story here: August and Vienna – Stormont Vail Foundation
Additionally, two members of Stormont Vail Health’s Paw Squad were also in attendance.

The Paw Squad is made up of 18 fantastic canines that can make any struggle or problem seem less scary. They love to show and receive affection while providing a sweet sense of calm for those around them. Paw Squad – Stormont Vail Health

Stormont Vail Health is grateful for its friends at Walmart and Sam’s Club, as they truly embody compassion and commitment when it comes to helping the most vulnerable of our hospital’s patients, our kids.
